La Matanza

On March 11th 2004,
over 200 people were murdered
and hundreds more injured by terrorists in Madrid.

The next day, the composer Robert Steadman wrote a piece of music for piano as a personal response to this slaughter and is now giving it away free via the internet.

"The piece is sad and reflective, it is how I felt about the sickening news of the terrorist attacks in Spain", he explained. "I hope that musicians around the world might decide to use this piece as part of a protest against such violence."

    April 2nd - April 11th 2004

Robert is suggesting a week of musical protest against all such violence in the world culminating on April 11th - a month after the slaughter in Madrid.

"Using the international language of music, I would like to see musicians everywhere unite, to perform together, and to make it clear that we have had enough of these atrocities."

"Adults, amateurs, professionals, students, anyone who can play the piano could perform La Matanza as part of this protest."
