TEHILLIM FOR ANNE
Commissioned by Southwell Choral Society this work, for choir and orchestra, is the setting of 3 pslams in Hebrew. It links to an exhibition about Anne Frank being hosted by Southwell Minster. Tehillim for Anne will be premiered on November 27th 2004
THE GIRLS' BOOK OF HEROINES
A new musical being written with a book by Sharon Sansom. It will be premiered at Lady Manners School, Bakewell in November 2004.Some Recent Premieres
JUNKYARD CONCERTO
Commissioned by the Nottingham University Wind Orchestra (conductor: Keiran O'Riordan), this new percussion concerto has sections where both the soloist and the band percussion play junk instruments. The premiere took place in March 2003.

BLUECOAT PSALMS
Commissioned by the Nottingham Bluecoat School Choir (conductor: Charles Slade), this work is settings for SATB choir, brass and organ of three psalm settings.
SYMPHONY No.2: THE DEATH OF STALIN
Commissioned by the Nottingham Youth Orchestra (conductor: Derek Williams), Robert's 2nd Symphony looks at the events of the death of Stalin. It was premiered in March 2003.
Tonight Matthew, I'm going to be...
Commissioned by Cricklade College, Andover this work is for the unusual combination of: flute, 2 clarinets, double bass, 2 alto saxophones, tenor horn, trombone, xylophone and piano.The premiere will be on February 3rd 2001 as part of a re-union concert in the Cricklade Theatre.THE ASHTEAD PSALMS
Torch Songs
Commissioned by Cricklade College, Andover for the music department's re-union concert these three love songs were well received at their premiere on February 3rd 2001 in the Cricklade Theatre.
Commissioned by Ashtead Choral Society (conductor: Paul Dodds) to mark their 50th anniversary, THE ASHTEAD PSALMS was premiered on January 22nd 2000 at Dorking Halls, Dorking, Surrey. It is a setting of 3 Psalms combining Latin and English text lasting about 20 minutes and is scored for soprano, tenor, children's choir, SATB choir and orchestra.
NOTTINGHAM SONGBOOK
Nottingham Songbook was written as part of the McDonald's OUR TOWN STORY project and was premiered on April 10th in the Millennium Dome by Nottingham Theatre School. The piece will now be toured around many places in Nottingham before being released on CD in December 12th 2000.

STURDY AS THE OAK
Nottinghamshire County Council commissioned Robert to write a work for the McDonald's sponsored OUR TOWN project which was premiered at the Royal Concert Hall, Nottingham on July 12th before being performed in the MILLENNIUM DOME on July 26th 2000. The work, entitled STURDY AS THE OAK, is scored for chamber orchestra and lasts about 20 minutes.
Wedding music
As you may now Robert got married to Tracy on October 21st at Highliffe Castle, Dorset. He wrote all the music for the ceremony which included song settings of Shakespeare and Robert Burns.Education Workshops & Projects
Composer Robert Steadman offers a variety of workshops for schools and colleges. He was Composer-in-Residence at the City of London Freemen's School from 1991-6 and has provided education workshops for the Orchestra of St. John's, Smith Square, the New Millennium Experience Company, Nottingham City Education and Nottinghamshire Education Committee, amongst others. He currently teaches at Lady Manners School, Bakewell.
Haka!
An exploration of the Maori war dance: the Haka. The day begins by learning the original and its background and proceeds with students writing their own Hakas before transferring these ideas onto instruments to make terrifying instrumental pieces. Robert will be running this workshop twice at the Imperial War Museum North in summer 2004
Journey into Music
A composition project based on the idea of a journey and how to structure a journey in music. Suitable for Secondary school pupils (11-16 years).
John Cage Aleatoric Music Workshop
A one day workshop exploring the world of "chance" compositions. Originally designed for A-level Performing Arts course this workshop is also suitable for A-level and GCSE music students.
Songwriting Clinic
Robert leads young songwriters through the process of songwriting, working on lyrics, melody, hook, structure, arrangement and the rehearsal process. Recently Robert has provided a number of songwriting workshops for the Voices of Promise competition for the New Millennium Experience Company.
